This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks

A woman enjoys a carafe of wine and a meal at a table in a cafe overlooking Montmartre in this painting by Spanish impressionist Ramon Casas (1866-1932) painted c.1890-91. One of Montmartre's famous windmills is visible in the background, probably the Moulin de la Galette, the restaurant and dance venue immortalised fifteen years earlier by Renoir. The lights and entrance way and man in uniform suggests it could be a rear entrance to the venue. If so, quite why the woman is sitting, drinking alone and looking towards this hotbed of Bohemian bon-viverie, is unclear. Is waiting for someone, or simply a meal-for-one and a glass or two of wine in the way that Parisians seem content to do. The title of the painting is giving nothing away.
