Description
Fred Hartman Bridge at Night - Fred Hartan bridge after dark with the lights on giving it a golden glow against the night sky. The bridge span 2.8 miles across the ship channel from La Porte to Baytown Texas. This is cable stay bridge and it is the largest in Texas out of only four other similar stay bridges. The Fred Hartman bridge is 77th largest in the nation. The bridge was built to replace the Baytown tunnel that went underneath the water so they could dig it out for bigger ships to pass. I remember going through the tunnel when I was a kid always worried that it would collapse as we went through. You can cleary make out all the refinery lights from underneath the bridge even the fracking flares. This is the energy sector which is near the Port of Houston with refineries in every direction you look.
